Last week, DRLC submitted a letter to the L.A. County Board of Supervisors regarding alternatives to incarceration. DRLC urges the County to support policies and practices that implement treatment for people with mental illness, while also making sustained financial commitments to rehabilitation programs that will help reduce recidivism and increase public safety.

Young Professionals Alliance
The mission of the Young Professionals Alliance (YPA) is to develop and broaden relationships between law students, young professionals, the board and staff of the Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC), to conduct outreach in the community, and to conduct fundraising efforts on behalf of the DRLC.
Members of the YPA can plan social events to bring together young professionals who support disability rights. They can also participate in the following:
- Pro Bono opportunities;
- Recruiting potential DRLC externs;
- Interviewing potential DRLC externs;
- Community Outreach;
- Cancer Rights Conferences;
- Health Expos;
- Race for the Cure® Events;
- Workshop Trainings;
- Special Education Advocacy Academies; and
- Franklin D. Roosevelt Dinner.
